Section A - Official Regulations - 155 New Systems

From time to time, new results calculation and judging systems may be tested in domestic interclub, qualifying and championship competitions. New systems tested in interclub competitions must be approved by the Skate Canada President or Chief Executive Officer in consultation with the Director of High Performance. New systems tested in qualifying and championship competitions must be approved by the Skate Canada Board of Directors.

New results calculation and judging methods may be tested provided the following is observed:

  • The announcement of the competition must outline the system to be used
  • The new system must be overseen by a competent person to report on its effectiveness
  • Any such system is implemented on a trial basis only and subsequent to the trial, rules and regulations are developed before a system can be used on a regular basis.
