2.13 - ISU Age Requirements

  1. FIGURE SKATING/ICE DANCING (ISU Rule 108.2)
    1. In ISU Senior Championships and the Olympic Winter Games only skaters may compete who have reached at least the age of fifteen (15) before July 1st preceding these events.
    2. In International Senior Competitions only skaters may compete who have reached at least the age of fourteen (14) before July 1st preceding the competition.
    3. In International Junior Competitions and ISU Junior Championships a Junior is a skater who has met the following requirements before July 1st preceding these events:
      1. has reached at least the age of thirteen (13);
      2. has not reached the age of nineteen (19) for ladies and men in singles competition; and
      3. has not reached the age of nineteen (19) for ladies and the age of twenty-one (21) for men in Pair Skating and Ice Dancing competition. (Note that this rule has been deleted for domestic events for Pairs).
  2. SYNCHRONIZED SKATING (ISU Rule 108.3)
    1. In the ISU Synchronized Skating Championships and International Synchronized Skating Competitions, a Senior team comprises skaters all of whom must have reached at least the age of 14 before July 1 preceding the Championship or competition;
    2. In International Synchronized Skating Competitions, a Junior team comprises skaters all of whom must have reached the age of twelve (12) but not have reached the age of nineteen (19), before July 1st preceding the competition.
