2104 - Acts Causing Restriction of Eligibility

  1. ICE SHOW OR SKATING TOUR OWNERSHIP OR MANAGEMENT: Any person (not otherwise deemed ineligible under other provisions of this rule) who receives remuneration from ownership or management of an ice show or skating tour may not be an Official in ISU events, the Olympic Winter Games or any other international competitions sanctioned by Skate Canada or the ISU and such persons may not be a member of the ISU Council, a Technical Committee, or the Appeals Commission, or a delegate to an ISU Congress.
  2. PAID EMPLOYEES:
    1. Paid Employees of Skate Canada, member clubs and skating schools (not otherwise deemed ineligible) may not:
      1. be Officials in ISU events or any other international competitions sanctioned by Skate Canada or the ISU;
      2. be a member of the ISU Council, a Technical Committee, or the Appeals Commission. Such persons may attend the ISU Congresses but without a vote;
      3. hold elected office in the Association or any club (they may attend meetings as observers) unless they are a Professional Coach and have been elected as the Coaching Representative of the club;
    2. The above restrictions automatically cease to apply once the above employment is terminated.
  3. REMUNERATED COACHES AND PROFESSIONAL DANCE PARTNERS:
    1. REMUNERATED COACHES: Remunerated coaches (active and inactive), (not otherwise deemed ineligible) may not:
      1. be Officials in Skate Canada and/or ISU Events or any other competitions sanctioned by Skate Canada and/or ISU unless expressly permitted by the Skate Canada Board of Directors
      2. be a member of the ISU Council, a Technical Committee, or the Appeals Commission. Such persons may attend ISU Congresses but without a vote;
      3. hold elected office in the Association or any club (they may attend meetings as observers), except as defined in By-law 1202 (3) (b) (iii) (iv);
      4. vote at any meetings of Skate Canada or a club, except as defined in By-law 1202 (3) (b) (iii) (iv).
    2. PROFESSIONAL DANCE PARTNERS: Persons who receive revenues for dance partnering over the amount permitted in the Skater Trust Guidelines (not otherwise deemed ineligible) may not participate as stated in 2104 (3) (a) and may not compete in qualifying competitions and championships. 
    3. The above restrictions cease to apply once the remunerated coach or professional dance partner reinstates (as applicable) to eligible person status.
