2017/2018 Selection Process for Senior Challenger and International Events

The following criteria will be considered when assigning skaters to Senior Challenger and International events for the 2017/2018 season.  All skaters/teams will be required to compete at a summer competition completing all portions of the event (SD/FD, SP/FP) except in cases where an agreed upon competitive plan has been approved by the Skate Canada High Performance Director.  Achieving any, or all, of the benchmarks or technical requirements noted herein does not guarantee the assignment of a Senior Challenger or International event. All assignments are determined at the discretion of the Skate Canada High Performance Director.

  • Preference for assignments will be given to skaters/teams who have achieved at an international competition in the 2016/2017 season the following:
    • Score that demonstrates a top 5 placement potential in international competition;
    • Assigned to a Grand Prix event for the 2017/18 season.
  • Skaters/teams will be considered for assignments if they have attained the following minimum target scores and demonstrated the following technical requirements:
    • Internationally in the 2016/2017 season;
    • Domestically at the 2017 Canadian Tire National Skating Championships, or at a 2017 summer competition.
